The .tn internet country code top level domain names are sanctioned to organizations, businesses and institutions within and outside Tunisia. A private individual is not permitted to register a domain in Tunisia. Local presence is mandatory and the right to register .tn domain names is permitted to such applicants only.
The sponsoring organization and the registry that handles the registration process for .tn domain names is an IANA accredited company, Agence Tunisienne d'Internet (ATI), or Tunisian agency of Internet. Created in March 12, 1996 this entity is the principal supplier of Internet access in Tunisia. ATI offers Internet access mainly to the governmental and public institutions recognized in Tunisia through the specialized lines, the ADSL and Frame Relay.
Among various second level domains available are:
- .com.tn: for commercial entities
- .gov.tn: for government agencies and organizations
- .info.tn: for information providers and media
- .org.tn: for non-governmental entities
- .fin.tn: for financial enterprises, insurance companies, banks
- .ens.tn: for private secondary education and higher education institutes
- .intl.tn: for companies and entities of an international nature
- .nat.tn: for national companies and agencies
Third Level Domains can also be registered.
One can register unlimited multiple domains. Moreover, you can register your domain as a trademark; this will protect your domain name and avoid the chance of third parties registering similar domain names. Applicants who register .tn domains should follow the terms and conditions imposed by the registrar, who reserves the right to change the rules.
To register a .tn domain name, you first have to verify whether or not the domain name you desire to register is available. Once this is determined, you have to fill out the registration form which can be obtained from the Tunisian Agency of Internet or at a supplier of Internet services |
